Dunns River Falls

Dunns River Falls is a famous waterfall near Ocho Rios, Jamaica and a major Caribbean tourist attraction. Dunns River Falls located in Ocho Rios a few miles from the city center. The Dunns River Falls cascade over smooth lime stone rocks, through the tropical rain forest all the way to the white sandy beach below. You can climb up the water falls which is 183 meters (600 feet) high. The falls are made up of limestone which tiers gradually allowing you to climb from the beach to the top, taking some of the most spectacular scenery along the way.

Christopher Columbus

Discovery Bay is a town in Saint Ann Parish on the northern coast of Jamaica. The city is also know locally as Dry Harbour Bay, because it sits in the shadow of the Dry Harbour Mountains in St. Ann.

Christopher Columbus first landed in Discovery Bay or Sevilla la Nueva (east of Discovery Bay) in 1494. Near to the city are Puerto Seco Beach and the Columbus Park.

Visitors to the Green Grotto Caves can see relics of the native Taino Arawak lifestyle there. It is said that many Spaniards escaped the English invasion of 1655 through secret passages in the caves with the help of Arawaks and African slaves, in exchange for their freedom.

The New Ocho Rios Plaza hosts sixty different shops near the center of town, and other plazas can be found closer to the cruise docks and resorts. The Ocho Rios Craft Park is one of several handicraft venues, with one hundred fifty vendors selling carvings, traditional woven crafts, and even personalized items.

Ocho Rios Craft Park located in the center of town with 135 stalls. A vendor will weave a hat or a basket while you wait, or you can buy a ready made hat, hamper, handbag, place mats, or lamp shade. Other stands stock hand-embroidered goods and will make small items while you wait. Wood carvers work on bowls, ashtrays, statues and cups.

Island Plaza located in the center of town has some of the best Jamaican art, all paintings by local artists. You can also purchase local handmade craft, carvings, ceramics, kitchenware and the inevitable T-shirts.
