Ridgeway Guest House, Montego Bay Villas, Jamaica
This warm B&B, far removed from the impersonal mega resorts, is a great find. The helpful owners offer free pickup from the Donald Sangster International Airport in Montego Bay and transport to Doctors Cave Beach, a 15–minute walk or 5 minutes by car.
They are constantly improving their property – a two–story white–painted building set among flowers and fruit trees from which guests may help themselves, perhaps having an orange–and–grapefruit salad.
The large rooms are decorated in a tropical motif with two or three queen–size beds. The marble bathrooms have modern fixtures, including a combo tub and shower, and TV is available in a public area. Some rooms feature air–conditioning, TV, and phones; others are equipped with ceiling fans only, and lack televisions or phones. The hotel next door opens its restaurant to Ridgeway guests.
