Anglers have a chance at landing blue and white marlin, wahoo, tuna and dolphin in deep water and drops to thousands of feet beyond the reefs. Blue marlin is the most-prized big game fish. Catching your first marlin is well within reach. Fishing grounds encircle the island and larger blues are usually caught between summer and fall. Although they diminish in size, blues are present year-round.

International Blue Marlin Tournament

The Atlantic Blue Marlin is an endangered species of fish and its preservation is highly significant to the continued development of the Caribbean's waters. Local fishermen and boats from surrounding regions come to Port Antonio to help in the conservation effort and this takes the form of the International Marlin Tournament. Marlin are caught, tagged and released back into the sea in keeping with the International Game Fishing Association's (IGFA) tag and release regulations.

The waters off of northern Jamaica are famous in deep sea fishing circles. Anglers can try to land mahi-mahi, wahoo, blue and white marlin, sailfish, tarpon, barracuda, and bonito. Each year the Jamaica International Fishing Tournament and the Jamaica International Blue Marlin Tournament run concurrently in September and October, bringing anglers from around the world to fish the teeming waters.

The deep sea fishing action in Port Antonio is close to the shore, not only providing great sport fishing but great views of Port Antonio coastline. You start to fish within 10 minutes after the boat leave the dock of the marina in Port Antonio. We will place up-to six lines (more on larger boats) in the water ensuring a greater chance of catching a big fish. Once we get a hit on one or more of the lines, you will sit in the angler chair and land your catch.
