Montego Bay Freeport: Montego Bay Attractions, Jamaica
Reclaimed swampland south of Montego River is now occupied by Montego Bay Freeport with a deepwater harbor, cruise berths, a yacht club, duty free area and an industrial zone.
The port of Montego Bay was built in the 1960s on which was called the Bogue Islands, the area is now called Montego Freeport. The Montego Freeport terminal consists of five primary berths two of which are dedicated exclusively for cruise shipping. There is a telecommunications centre for cruise passengers (and crew), snack and refreshment stand.
As many as four cruise ships can dock at the pier in Montego Bay's Freeport zone, about 3 mi/5 km west of downtown. The city spreads east and north around the harbor from the Freeport zone past the town center and the tourist district.
