Jamaica has some of the best deep sea fishing that will satisfy any angler from beginner to season professional. Jamaican deep sea fishing is extremely popular among tourist and locals alike. Jamaica hosts three of the largest sport fishing tournaments, the Montego Bay Yacht Club Fishing Tournament (Jamaica International Blue Marlin Team Tournament) and Annual Port Antonio International Marlin Tournament at the Errol Flynn Marina, Port Antonio, Portland. Falmouth Blue Marlin Tournament (Falmouth, Trelawny) is the newest addition to the Jamaica sports fishing annual calendar. These two tournaments are renowned for some of the largest blue marlin fish caught in the Caribbean. The tournaments are held between September and October each year. Anglers are invite from all over the world to participate in the catch & release tournament for the Atlantic Blue Marlin and game fish that migrates through the Caribbean during September and October.
Catch a Blue Marlin or Land a Big One
The Caribbean underwater geography create a rich marine environment for several types of fish such as the blue marlin, white marlin, sailfish, mahi mahi, wahoo, barracuda, red snapper, grouper, bonita, shark, green jack, jack fish, yellow jack, kingfish, tarpon, striped tuna, black fin tuna and yellow fin tuna.
The varied marine habitat in the Caribbean favors several species of fish. You will find lager species of fish such as the blue and white marlin in deeper open water. While other species like living closer to the shore in shallow white sand water, amongst the bright vibrant color reefs and the underwater cliff faces. The shallow costal water and reefs favors bottom fishing and fly fishing anglers. Where as the deep blue Caribbean waters favor deep sea fishing anglers.

Sport fishing and deep sea fishing in the Caribbean attracts a lot of sportsmen from around the world, who go fishing for big sports fish each year. A typical deep sea fishing charter will last for either a half day or a full day. It normally takes about 5-15 minutes before you start fishing after leaving the marina. Deep Sea Fishing on Jamaica's eastern, northern and west coast are generally good year round, with the marjor marlin tournaments held along the north coast.

The boat come equipped with an experienced captain and crew, all tackle, air condition bedroom, galley and bathroom, (lager luxury boats have additional facilities). Some refreshment and snacks are provided on some charter (please check). Refreshment and food can be provided upon requested; cost is normally at local rate.

International Blue Marlin Tournament
The Atlantic Blue Marlin is an endangered species of fish and its preservation is highly significant to the continued development of the Caribbean's waters. Local fishermen and boats from surrounding regions come to Port Antonio to help in the conservation effort and this takes the form of the International Marlin Tournament. Marlin are caught, tagged and released back into the sea in keeping with the International Game Fishing Association's (IGFA) tag and release regulations.
The waters off of northern Jamaica are famous in deep sea fishing circles. Anglers can try to land mahi-mahi, wahoo, blue and white marlin, sailfish, tarpon, barracuda, and bonito. Each year the Jamaica International Fishing Tournament and the Jamaica International Blue Marlin Tournament run concurrently in September and October, bringing anglers from around the world to fish the teeming waters.
