Anchorage Villa, Montego Bay Villas, Jamaica
The Anchorage is a villa at Belmont, St. James, Jamaica on a mountainside with a breathtaking view of Montego Bay and miles of coastline, yet only a few minutes drive from coast and beaches. The villa is surrounded by several acres of landscaped grounds and is therefore very private.
The villa is located 15 minutes drive from the Donald Sangster International Airport in Montego Bay.
The Anchorage was the home and studio of the late Michael Lester (originally Leszczynski), a Polish sea captain and painter of renown, whose paintings appear above. A number of his original works are on display in the studio. He designed the house and supervised craftsmen from the village of Belmont in its construction.
The Anchorage is a large house on two levels which in keeping with the nautical background of its original owner we call the upper and lower decks. It is built with distinctive architecture on a commanding site where the hillside plunges into a deep gorge.
It is ideal for groups of between six and 12 people but has been redesigned so that the upper and lower decks can be totally independent and if two groups of guests are staying at the same time, the only facility they share is the pool.
