Negril Ground Transportation Services

Negril is located in Western Jamaica and extends from Negril Lighthouse at Negril West Point in the parish of Westmoreland, to Bloody Bay in the Parish of Hanover. Negril is located 50 miles west of Montego Bay Sangster International Airport. Travel time from Montego Bay to the center of Negril is around 90 minutes, with some of holiday resorts north/north east of Negril are a lot closer.

There will be no waiting time once you exit the terminal and you will be on your way to your hotel and villa once you are onboard. We will head west of Montego Bay towards Negril on the A1 highway with good road surface, make for a quick and comfortable drive. Depending on your journey, you will go through the following destinations including Tryall, Sandy Bay, Lucea, Cuousins Cove, Rhodes Beach, Orange Bay, Bloody Bay, Negril and Negril West End.

About Negril

The name "Negril" is a shortened version of "Negrillo", as it was originally named by the Spanish in 1494. The name is thought to be a reference to the black cliffs south of the village.

Negril's development as a resort location began during the late 1950s. Most vacationer's would rent rooms inside the homes of Jamaican families, or would pitch tents in their back yards. The area's welcoming and hospitable reputation grew over time and the first of many resorts were constructed in the mid to late 1960s.

Today Negril is a thriving tourist destination with some of the most well know hotels and villas situated along Negril seven miles long beach. Some of the newer hotels are located closer to Bloody Bay and the West End of Negril. Negril is now more famous for the protected wetlands that run along the main coastal road, Hedonism II, The Cave Hotel and Ricks Cafe to name a few.
