Sir Herbert Barker, a famous British Osteopath visited the beach and later published an article boosting it by declaring that the waters have curative powers and that he was restored to good health after bathing there. The rich and famous use to visit the bath to enjoy the healing powers of the water. Now you can enjoy spending a few hours on the popular Doctor's Cave Beach.

One of the world's largest concentrations of bio luminescent micro organisms exists at Luminous Lagoon at Glistening Waters in Falmouth, Jamaica. This lagoon, surrounded by mangroves, is home to microscopic organisms that emit a phosphorescent light when the water is agitated. Plan your trip for dusk and then take a boat ride onto the lagoon. As the water is disturbed, you'll see an eerie light illuminating the waters below.

Montego Bay is known as the second city in Jamaica, only second to Kingston and the largest tourist resort on the island. Montego Bay Airport is also Jamaica's largest airport and the main tourist hub on the island. Visit the Rose Hall Great House which is a classic 18th century sugar plantation mansion built on the shores of Montego Bay in 1780. However, this is more than a pretty house, its last mistress, Annie Palmer (the White Witch of Rose Hall) is an infamous figure in Jamaican history and the house also tells her story. A practitioner of voodoo, the Haitian art of black magic, Palmer presided over her plantation and the slaves who worked it in a cruel and was met with a violent death in a slave uprising in 1831.
Sam Sharpe Square

Sam Sharpe Square

The Sam Sharpe Monument, designed by Kay Sullivan, portrays Sharpe holding his Bible and speaking to his people. In 1976 Charles Square in Montego Bay was renamed Sam Sharpe Square in honour of national hero Sam Sharpe who was from Montego Bay. Built in 1806, the Cage was used as a goal for enslaved Africans, disorderly seamen and vagrants. About 1822 the Vestry replaced the wooden structure of the Cage with one of stone and brick. The building was reopened as the Montego Bay Civic Centre. It is a multi-faceted facility with provision for a museum, art gallery, performing arts and conferencing facilities.
